Initial sketches for a series of retreat lodges forming part of a proposed new Yoga Centre in Central Scotland. These are to be organic in form, with the intention that they are sensitively sited and built within a sloping wooded hillside to minimise – or ideally negate – the removal of any existing trees.
They are to be detailed as de-mountable structures using locally-sourced timber, with floor and roof frames offset, connected by a timber structure which wraps around the building, resulting in a single undulating skin. This form is punctured by small windows and opens up for an entrance ramp on one side and a terrace leading from the main living space, which cantilevers into the woods.
